The GOP’s newest voter suppression plan

Republicans in the House just rammed through a bill that would disenfranchise millions of voters and make it harder for you to vote. Let's dive into their new voter suppression plan.

The SAVE Act is the latest scheme by Republicans to rig the rules and silence voters. It's framed as an initiative to stop voter fraud, but it's spurred by baseless narratives and lies perpetrated by Trump and his MAGA minions.

Make no mistake: The SAVE Act demands voters present a birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization paperwork, or certain versions of the Real ID to indicate citizenship to cast a ballot. And here's a key detail they don't want you to know. As many as 69 million women changed their last names after marriage. That means their birth certificates might not match their current IDs — putting their right to vote at risk.

This bill is a blatant attempt to prevent people from voting, and it’s un-American.

As it moves forward in the Senate, my Democratic colleagues and I will fight to stop it.. We will not allow this bill to become law and suppress the voices of millions of Americans.
