Republicans want to hand out tax giveaways to billionaires
It's pretty simple. Today, on Tax Day, everybody is supposed to pay their fair share. But too many of the super-rich and corporations don't, leaving the rest of us to pick up the tab for essential programs like Social Security, Medicaid, and disaster relief.
Tax policy should benefit working families. But the Republican tax plan is deliberately designed to make things harder for ordinary Americans.
Republicans are pushing a corrupt scheme to richly reward corporations and billionaires with even bigger tax breaks that will gut critical programs that help Americans thrive and raise costs for ordinary folks who are already struggling to make ends meet. We need to be lifting people up, not selling them out.
Stockholders and billionaires like Elon Musk will see massive tax cuts and handouts. During Trump's first term, the federal corporate tax rate was 35 percent. Then, it was reduced to 21 percent. Now, Trump and his cronies in Congress want to further cut that to as low as 15 percent and blow a $500 billion hole in the federal budget.
The math is simple: Republicans want to give more handouts to the wealthiest Americans while cutting services for working families. That's it. That's the goal. Billionaires win, families lose.
Onward!
