This is the Republicans’ great betrayal of working families

For the second time, Republicans pushed through their budget resolution in the dark of night last week to double down on their mission to slash programs that help families thrive to bankroll massive tax breaks for billionaires.

The Republican budget bill will also pile on over $37 TRILLION in new debt. That's more debt created by a SINGLE BILL than created in the entire 249-year history of our country.

I put forward an amendment to block their debt explosion. Guess what? The Republicans tanked it.

Democrats kept fighting back with amendment after amendment to lower the cost of groceries, safeguard Medicaid and Social Security, and make it easier for ordinary families to make ends meet. And every time, Republicans sided with billionaires over working Americans and voted down these amendments.

The Republican billionaire tax giveaways will kick millions of Americans off their health insurance, gut education funding for children in need, raise everyday costs for working families, and add trillions of dollars to the national debt. Their plan: billionaires win, families lose.

This is the Republicans' great betrayal of working families, and I will continue to fight against it.
