Everyone deserves clean air, clean water, and protection from climate chaos
2024 was the hottest year on record, and across the country, Americans are struggling with the impacts of climate chaos on a daily basis. Out-of-control wildfires are blanketing our communities with air pollution, extreme drought threatens our food supply, and intensifying storms inflict record-setting flooding and damage.
During Tuesday night's Joint Address to Congress, Trump again repeated his plan to "drill baby drill," signaling that the impacts of climate chaos will likely get worse over the next few years, not better.
The bottom line is we can't keep living like this if we want a sustainable future.
Everyone in every corner of Oregon—and across the country—deserves clean air, clean water, and protection from climate chaos. Unfortunately, the dismantling of environmental justice efforts by Trump and an administration filled with fossil fuel cronies has left our most vulnerable communities exposed to even greater risks.
That's why I am working to pass The Empowering and Enforcing Environmental Justice Act. This bill permanently establishes the Office of Environmental Justice and codifies vital environmental protections, holds polluters accountable, and ensures that every community, especially those most impacted by climate disasters and toxic pollution, has the necessary tools to secure a healthier, safer future.
The stakes couldn't be higher for the future of our planet, and I'll never stop pushing for strong legislation that builds a cleaner, greener future.
Onward!
