Families lose, billionaires win

Last night, in an all night vote-a-rama, we saw Republicans push a budget that is a masterclass in misplaced priorities that guts critical programs Americans rely on while serving up tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy. To put it plainly: families lose, billionaires win.

Their scheme would slash billions of dollars from essential programs, including cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, housing, climate programs, and education, while handing out tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans. Despite claims of being “fiscal hawks,” this Republican budget plan will also drive our country deeper into debt by ballooning the deficit. It’s an attack on working families to make the rich richer while destroying programs that help everyday Americans thrive.

My office is getting thousands and thousands of phone calls, voicemails, and emails opposing the Trump-Musk MAGA budget scam. You’re rightfully concerned about the impacts on housing, education, child care, and health care. As the Ranking Member on the Senate Budget Committee, I’m going to fight this budget proposal with every tool we have.

I will not vote for any budget plan that harms working families.
