Donald Trump has renewed calls to defund NPR and PBS
Donald Trump and his unelected co-president Elon Musk have renewed demands to gut NPR and PBS, and Republicans are eagerly getting on board by preparing bills to cut the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's funding.
This move comes on the heels of the news that Trump's FCC Chair, who thinks NPR and PBS should be cut off, is ordering investigations into NPR and PBS.
NPR and PBS are non-profit, public news sources that provide free and unbiased reporting, educational and arts programming, and critical emergency broadcasting. In many rural areas, as local newspapers have closed, public radio has become the only reliable source of local news and information, and all this stands to be defunded by Republicans.
It's clear that now that he's in office, Trump and his cronies will go after any institution that won't fall in line with their dark MAGA vision.
