We are not powerless
The first days of the Trump administration have been chaotic and disastrous. Trump's plan is to distract and overwhelm us so that we feel too powerless to act.
But here's the truth: We are not powerless. Republicans only hold slim majorities in the House and Senate, and we will be using every tool in our toolkit to derail Trump's worst ideas and nominees. And in pushing back against Trump's illegal program cuts, you've already shown how powerful people's voices can be.
Just this week, we raised our voices against Trump's illegal cuts to government funds, forcing the Administration to backpedal. Yesterday, I led the press conference with Senate Budget Dems against Russ Vought, Trump's dangerously unfit nominee to lead the Office of Management & Budget.
Right now, we must build an even bigger, more powerful grassroots movement to fight the Trump administration's authoritarian power grab targeting our hard-fought wins from the last four years. Our grassroots movement will stand up for everyday Americans, and we start by organizing now so our movement is unstoppable.
We all know what's on the line over the next few years, and I know that standing strong together is our only hope for changing the direction of this country. We have to be ready to fight against Trump corrupting our courts, giving even bigger tax breaks to corporate polluters and billionaires, decimating our economy, and eviscerating our civil rights.
Our democracy doesn't belong to big corporations, special interests, or billionaires. And it certainly doesn't belong to Donald Trump or his extreme MAGA minions.
It belongs to We the People. It belongs to us.
Let's do this together. What I've seen over and over from this grassroots team is that you'll never back down from fighting for what's right.
Onward,
Jeff
