I'll be leading the Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee

In this new Congress, I'll be leading the Democrats on the Senate Budget Committee as the committee's Ranking Member.

Our Committee is responsible for drafting budget plans for Congress and for monitoring and enforcing rules surrounding spending, revenue, and the federal budget. And in the new Trump era, I'll be working to ensure that Americans get their fair shake in future budget negotiations.

As the top Democrat on the Senate Budget Committee, I'll press Trump's nominees on why their plan cuts programs for working families and runs up the national debt to fund massive tax giveaways to the richest 1%. The public deserves to know.

We're going to stand up to the powerful and fight for the solutions Americans need — fair taxes and a government that prioritizes the needs of hard-working people and preserves critical programs like Social Security and Medicare.

Right now, I'm talking to Oregonians about the issues that matter most to them. Everyday Americans are trying to put food on the table, pay their rent or mortgage, and take care of their families and loved ones. The federal budget must prioritize their needs and increase opportunities for hard-working people.
