The first day of summer

Today is the first day of summer, and we can feel the temperatures heating up – with some parts of the country already seeing temperatures over 100 degrees and this week's heat dome in the Midwest and Northeast setting records for dangerous, extreme heat.

These hotter summers are a clear signal that we are not doing enough to address climate chaos. Scientists keep sounding the alarm as the Earth's temperature continues to rise due to the endless burning of fossil fuels.

Across the country, we see and struggle with the effects of climate chaos daily. Wildfire smoke blankets our communities with air pollution, extreme drought threatens our food supply, and intensifying storms leave behind record-level flooding and damage.

The bottom line is we can't keep living like this. For our sake and for the sake of future generations, we need Climate Champions in Congress – leaders willing to take big, bold action to stop polluters and tackle the climate crisis.

We need leaders who are unafraid to take on Republicans who deny the effects of climate change, give tax breaks and preferential policies to Big Oil, Big Coal, the Koch network and its right-wing billionaires, and the corporations that pollute our air, land, and water.

I'm working to support real climate action, and I'm asking you to join me in my efforts to create a strong, green future for our country and ensure a bright future for our children. Can I count on you to pitch in any amount today?
