The Choose Medicare Act

It's outrageous that in the richest country in the world, people have to worry about whether they'll be able to afford needed care if they or a loved one becomes sick or gets into an accident. We need to make sure every American has access to high-quality, affordable health care.

Luckily, we already have an effective, popular solution: Medicare. By offering every American the opportunity for Medicare coverage, we can move consumers and businesses further along the path toward universal health care.

I reintroduced the Choose Medicare Act because I want to make sure every American has the option to buy in if they want to.

This legislation opens up Medicare to all Americans and builds on the system we have today. By allowing Medicare to compete with private health insurance, we're giving consumers and businesses choice on the path to universal health care and lowering health care and prescription drug costs, too.

I'm working hard to improve health care affordability while increasing access, competition, and choice. The Choose Medicare Act would do just that.

Right now, we have a choice between a system that gets more and more expensive every year, leaves middle-class families one pink slip away from losing their health coverage, and makes our businesses less competitive, or an improved model that increases health care options, expands care, and lowers costs.

We can't afford to do nothing, and that's why I'm urging the Senate to pass the Choose Medicare Act.
