Dig a little deeper to win in Texas and Florida
This may sound unthinkable, but what if we expanded the Senate map beyond what pundits and experts think is at play?
Picture this: We wake up on November 6 and see the headlines that Democrats not only defended our five incredible incumbents in battleground states and won big in Arizona, Michigan, and Maryland, but we also picked up Democratic Senators in Florida and Texas.
Here's why each state offers a potential opportunity for us this year.
Florida, a traditional battleground state, has an abortion rights measure on the ballot this year, a former Congresswoman running for Senate with roots in the state, and an unpopular Republican incumbent in Rick Scott.
Texas is challenging, though we have a great candidate and current Dallas Congressman — and former football player! — running against deeply unpopular Ted Cruz.
And they both need our help to win!
How do we get it done? Well, the only way it would be even remotely possible to win all these races in November is if our grassroots team starts organizing TODAY.
That's right. I'm asking you to dig even deeper so we can put Florida and Texas in play — along with winning the eight must-win races to hold the Democratic Senate Majority.
We'd have a 52-seat majority in the Senate if we win all these races. That means we won't have to worry about one or two Democratic Senators holding important bills hostage, and we'd finally have a chance to reform the filibuster!
Gun safety, voting rights, labor protections, dark money reforms, reproductive rights, immigration reform, and more would be back on the table if we can expand our Democratic Senate Majority by winning in places people think are out of reach.
Nothing is impossible when our strong grassroots team comes together and builds momentum to fight for our progressive values.
Onward!
