We’re on track for the hottest year on record
Let this sink in: 2023 is on track to be the hottest year ever recorded.
Scientists are sounding the alarm as our climate continues to change due to the endless burning of fossil fuels and corporate greed.
Across the country, we see the effects of climate chaos, and we struggle with them daily. Smoke from wildfires blankets our communities with air pollution, tornadoes rip through small towns and cities in the Midwest, and storms are intensifying, leading to record-level flooding and damage.
We have to act before it's too late. To help manage the effects of climate chaos we're seeing right now, I introduced the Wildfire Smoke Emergency Declaration Act and the Smoke and Heat Ready Communities Act – two bills aimed at protecting communities across the nation from the hazardous health, economic, and environmental impacts of severe wildfire smoke and extreme heat events, which are becoming more frequent due to climate chaos.
But the bottom line is we can't keep living like this; for our sake and for the sake of future generations, we need Climate Champions in Congress – leaders willing to take big, bold action to stop pollution and tackle the climate crisis. We must fight back against Big Oil, Big Coal, the Koch network, and the corporations that pollute our air, land, and water.
I'm going to continue the fight in the Senate by supporting legislation to help communities suffering the effects of the climate crisis and to curb carbon emissions so we can slow – and reverse – deadly global warming.
Together, we can create a strong, green future for our country and ensure a bright future for our children.
Onward,
Jeff
