A champion for working families.
Firefighters know something about ladders. And I just love the story Val Hoyle told me about what her dad – a union firefighter – would say: "Work hard, and hold the ladder for the next guy."
Thankfully for all of us, Val has been living those values her whole life. First, alongside her dad, who took her to her first picket line at age 6; then later as a working mom, raising two kids while earning minimum wage as a waitress; to the Oregon State House; to her time as Oregon's Labor Commissioner — and now in Washington, D.C. as a Member of Congress. These experiences instilled the grit and perseverance I see from Val both at home in Oregon and on Capitol Hill.
Val is relentless about working for working families, which is why I love having her working alongside me in Congress.
And it's probably a big part of the reason that Republicans want to take her out in the next election. She needs our help to build and organize her grassroots movement. Can you chip in $19 and help build Val's grassroots movement for working families today?
With each rung of the ladder Val cleared, she ensured that she was making way and steadying it for the next person. Val was instrumental in raising the minimum wage in Oregon. She defends reproductive rights. She fights to solve the climate crisis. And every day, I see Val working hard for hard working families across Oregon.
Right now Kevin McCarthy and MAGA Republicans are working to stop Val and make sure working families have one fewer champion in Congress. Val won't stand down, Val won't stop fighting, because she knows what's at stake for working families:
Keeping a roof over their heads;
Making sure the fridge isn't empty;
Getting kids a good education; and
Having a good job that pays a living wage.
Val is fighting for all these and so much more. Will you help us build her grassroots movement and make sure she can keep up the fight for working families?
Onward!
Jeff
