Ban Congressional Stock Trading
The American people deserve to know that their elected leaders are working hard to serve them, not their stock portfolios.
Members of Congress should NOT trade stocks. It's a corrupt practice and it has to end.
It's corrupt because members' portfolios have the potential to influence how they write legislation or vote on bills.
And it's corrupt because members of Congress often have advanced notice of investigations, hearings, and legislation – information that is not available to the public – that can affect the stock market.
Why is that wrong? Because it gives them an advantage that ordinary Americans don't have. Studies show that members of Congress on average beat the S&P 500 year after year.
The American people know it's corrupt, too. In fact, 3 out of 4 Americans believe that stock trading by members of Congress should be banned.
The good news: I've got a plan to ban stock trading by members of Congress and their immediate family members entirely.
But to get this passed, we need to build massive nationwide grassroots momentum. I need your help. Will you add your name to this petition to ban Congressional stock trading?
Let's ensure that those who are elected to serve, actually serve the people — not their portfolios.
It's far past time for Congress to take action. Sign my petition today and tell Congress to ban Congressional stock trading now.
Onward!
