We need common sense reforms
There have been more than 146 mass shootings so far this year. More than one a day.
Thoughts and prayers are not enough. Our kids deserve action. Our communities deserve action. We can act today.
And that is why I am signing on to legislation that will help keep Americans safe.
Congress must act to stop the production, sale, and transfer of high capacity gun magazines - the cartridges that hold bullets. That means that gun magazines that hold 20, 30, or even 100 bullets would no longer be legal.
We cannot wait another day. And that is why I started this petition to ban high capacity magazines. If you are as outraged by gun violence as I am, then sign my petition to ban high capacity magazines and save lives today.
We hear it again and again – most recently in Nashville – the moment when a shooter stops to reload is when people can flee and bystanders or law enforcement can quickly take action. Magazines of ten or fewer bullets mean fewer people get hurt.
We have a responsibility to protect our children and our community. We should not be numb to the news of mass shootings, and I am committed to ending the epidemic of gun violence.
Sign my petition today and let's ban high capacity gun magazines to save lives.
Thoughts and prayers are not enough. Now is a time to act.
Onward.
