What you need to know about the Texas abortion pill decision

I am devastated by this news.

Just moments ago, a Trump-appointed judge in Texas revoked FDA approval for the most widely used abortion pill in the country, mifepristone.

Important: This ruling doesn’t take effect for seven days, and even if it’s upheld, FDA has expansive authority to allow its use and availability according to the best scientific and medical evidence.

But let's be clear: This ruling will make it harder to access abortion care.

Even in advance of this ruling, the national pharmacy chain Walgreens decided to stop providing mifepristone to patients, in a craven act of pure cowardice.

This is yet another attack by right-wing extremists to curtail abortion access and undermine our basic freedoms.
