Education, Not Indoctrination
I was a kid when my dad took me to school and told me that, if I went through those school doors and worked hard, I could do just about anything. Many years later I was the first in my family to graduate from college.
Dad and mom knew the value of education and instilled a love of learning. They knew the value of a book that challenges your thinking. They knew that with knowledge and reading comes opportunity and freedom.
But today books are being banned across the country by local school boards, county governments, and even state legislatures.
Book banning is a sign of rising authoritarianism. I am standing against banning books and I need you to stand with me. Will you donate now to help us build this movement?
Books open our eyes to new worlds and possibilities, and help us understand a little bit of how other people live. And that's exactly what some people don't want. They're banning books to try to ensure kids think a certain, narrow way. That's censorship, and it's wrong.
Education changed my life and created many opportunities. Now we have to protect access to books so our children can have those same opportunities.
Onward!
