No, we’re not going to let them.
By now, you've probably started to hear about the "debt ceiling" and how critical it is that we raise it. Here's why it matters:
Extremist Republicans in Congress are using this moment to demand massive cuts in programs we all depend on— including Social Security, Medicare, veterans benefits, environmental protection, higher education, and more.
We're not going to let them.
Make no mistake, this extreme GOP position has nothing to do with fiscal responsibility. After all, we reduced the deficit with the Inflation Reduction Act, and could reduce it a lot more by making billionaires and big corporations pay their fair share. Instead, House Republicans are trying to gut enforcement so tax cheats can get away with it.
This is all about rigging the economy even more so the fat cats can get even fatter.
Far too many Republicans in Congress want to slash the social safety net, undermine our work to combat the climate crisis, break our promises to seniors and veterans, and gut critical programs – like education and health care – that our families depend on.
No way. Not on our watch.
