My thoughts on Tina, Betsy, and Christine
Maybe you're still undecided in the governor's race. Maybe you know people who are still undecided, and you could use some help convincing them.
Let's have a blunt and honest conversation about what's at stake:
For Democrats, a vote for unaffiliated candidate Betsy Johnson is a vote for Republican Christine Drazan. After all, over the last seven polls, she's averaging 15% of the vote. She's a spoiler in the race helping Drazan win.
And don't forget that both Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan are ardent champions of the fossil fuel barons driving the climate chaos that is literally burning down our state and fueling the megadroughts driving our farmers and ranchers out of business.
The similarities don't stop there. Johnson and Drazan are all about bashing Democrats, not focusing on solutions that work.
Take crime: while Tina Kotek has actual plans to combat crime and gun violence, Both Johnson & Drazan have "A" ratings from the NRA, and don't support common sense gun safety laws.
The climate crisis: while Tina Kotek actually led the fight to tackle the climate crisis, Johnson & Drazan sided with the big polluters and opposed every single major climate bill in Oregon's recent history, including 100% Clean Energy for All, the Clean Energy Jobs bill, and the Oregon Environmental Protection Act. Both Johnson & Drazan have said that a top priority would be ending the Oregon Climate Action Plan.
Homelessness: Tina Kotek called for a state-of-emergency three years ago and has a real plan that she will launch on Day One as our new governor. Meanwhile, Drazan walked out of the legislature, blocking investments in housing solutions. As a legislator, Betsy Johnson opposed a major investment in transitional housing, Project Turnkey.
Most of all, this election is about who's on your side. Tina's campaign has been powered by grassroots Democrats pitching in small dollar donations, while both Johnson & Drazan have been propped up by million-dollar donations from billionaires and big corporate special interests.
Heck, longtime Republican donors have given millions to Betsy Johnson. Can there be any question why that is?
I'll say it one more time: The polls are clear – Betsy Johnson cannot win. So, for Democrats, a vote for Johnson is a vote to elect Drazan.
Onward!
