Shocking but not surprising: Another Republican filibuster

Yesterday, the Senate almost took up the Freedom to Vote Act.

To be specific, we voted on whether we should even have a debate about it.

And you won't be shocked when I tell you: The Republicans filibustered it. Not a single Republican even wanted to debate protecting free and fair elections, ending partisan gerrymandering nationwide, and stopping billionaires from buying elections.

Like you, I'm frustrated. We have to move forward and get things done.

These no-effort, no-show filibusters are outrageous. If you want to filibuster a bill, you should have to stand before the American people and make your case. And then, when everyone has had a chance to say everything they need to say, there should be a vote.

Democracy demands no less.

I've been working with my colleagues day and night to convince them that it's time to fix the filibuster. Yes, the minority should be heard. Yes, every Senator should make his or her case. And then yes, we must vote.

Bottom line?

Even after we get filibuster reform done, even after we pass the Freedom to Vote Act, we will have to defend and build on our bare majority in the Senate. Chip in now to the Blue Wave Project and let's get that done.
