Sign the petition: Stop ripping off Americans on prescription drug prices
How many times have we had to talk about just how bad prescription drug prices are in America?
Remember when Utah was literally sending state workers to Mexico to get prescription drugs, because it was actually cheaper than the alternative? I sure do.
And the "Pharma Bro"? That guy who launched a hedge fund two years after college, created a pharmaceutical company, bought the rights to a life-saving AIDS and malaria drug, and jacked up the price from $13 to $750.
And we've all seen the price of insulin skyrocket over 1100% since 1997, even though the basic formulation hasn't changed at all.
My point is that the American people are suffering from our broken health care system — including outrageous drug prices — and we must act.
Whether you're a parent struggling to afford your child's prescription, someone on a fixed income, or a retiree barely able to get by, prescription drug prices matter. A lot.
We certainly took a powerful step in 2020: by taking back the White House and the U.S. Senate, the American people sent an undeniable message about the kind of change that's critical to our country.
After years of Republicans waging war on health care, what I said then is just as true right now — we'll only win this struggle if all of us who are willing to take on the powerful join together in a grassroots movement to make it happen.
Let's keep up the fight. Our hard work will make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many people.
