Tell me about a time that a nurse made a difference for someone you care about:

My beloved wife and partner Mary is a hospice nurse.

For years, she's come home from work bone tired but committed to the meaningful work of direct patient care.

Of course, in the midst of this pandemic, so many nurses have been on the front lines of the fight. Day after day, week after week, month after month.

Do you remember the early days, when we'd cheer the nurses and doctors fighting valiantly to save lives?

Let's do that again.

So today, on National Nurses Day, I'm asking you to join me on social media — Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter — to tell your story about a nurse that made a difference to you or someone you loved.

Or, if social media isn't your thing, pick up the phone and tell a nurse how much you appreciate their hard work and dedication in caring for others.

The compassion and care that nurses provide bring a human touch to health care — often during the most difficult or stressful times for those who are sick and vulnerable.

On this National Nurses Day, let's all celebrate America's nurses and the extraordinary sacrifices they've made over the last year — and for all the years before the pandemic.
