Sign my petition to allow banking at the post office
Here's an idea that can help millions of people right away:
Allow the U.S. Postal Service to once again provide limited banking services at post offices.
It's not a radical idea. In fact, for over 50 years, Americans were able to get banking services at the post office.
Today, over 7 million American households don't have bank accounts.
Restarting postal banking would help us fight predatory payday loans, check cashing fees, high-fee prepaid debit cards, overdraft fees—all of which are targeted at low-income people who have few other options.
During the Trump era, the US Postal Service faced repeated assaults and attempts to undermine its central role in American life. We can rebuild the USPS by allowing it to restart postal banking and once again provide critical low-cost financial services to millions of Americans.
