What can you do to help right now?
Feeling a little anxious about what you can do to ensure a positive outcome on Election Night? Stop refreshing election prediction websites, and let's get to work.
First, right here in Oregon, one of the closest Congressional races in the country is coming down to the wire. Peter DeFazio needs our help reaching every last Democratic voter. Sign up to help DeFazio by calling voters on Election Day here.
Second, all across the country, Democrats are getting out the vote in critical swing states, critical Senate states, and critical House districts. If you're not able to be in person (and most of us aren't), you can help remotely with phone calls and texts. Sign up here and you'll get plugged in right away!
Social media is probably not a great way to relieve anxiety (they call it doomscrolling for a reason!) but if you do go on social media, stay positive! Tell your friends and family that you've turned in your ballot and remind them to make a plan to vote, too. Tell them what you're doing positively to take action by contacting voters. We are going to protect our democracy by doing everything we can to encourage people to vote.
Oh, and remind everyone that if they're in line to vote when the polls close, they will be allowed to vote. Don't leave the line! (In Oregon, that includes if you're in your car in a drive-up line at a dropbox.)
Keep up the fight!
Team Merkley
